Everything you need to know about RangeSight and RangeIQ
About RangeSight
RangeSight is an Android drone flight planning app powered by the proprietary RangeIQ™ on-device physics engine. It calculates your drone's real-world flight range by accounting for wind, temperature, humidity, altitude, payload weight, battery health, and dozens of other environmental and mechanical factors.
Key highlights: 31 pre-built drone profiles across 5 manufacturers (DJI, Autel, Parrot, Skydio, Freefly), wind-aware directional range rings calculated at 360 points, 7 color-coded battery safety zones, 4 interactive map styles, and 100% offline capability.
It's designed for individual drone operators, Part 107 pilots, commercial pilots, and drone service providers. Available as a free download with optional PRO subscription ($4.99/month or $39.99/year) for Set Home Location, Live Weather, Payload Modeling, Advanced Fine-Tuning, Custom Drone Builder, and Offline Maps.
Yes. RangeSight's entire physics engine runs 100% on-device with no cloud dependency. The app never needs internet for core functionality. All 31 drone profiles, the flight range calculator, payload modeling, fine-tune calibration, battery settings, and unit conversion work completely offline.
Download regional map tile packs (organized by country and state/province) for fully offline map viewing. Manual weather entry lets you input conditions from a local station when live data isn't available. The only features requiring connectivity are live weather fetching (PRO) and downloading new map tiles.
Offline maps are pre-downloaded map tiles that include satellite imagery and terrain data for specific geographic regions. Unlike streaming maps that require constant internet access, offline maps are stored directly on your device. This means you can view detailed imagery, check terrain elevation, and plan missions even when you're miles from cell service. Offline map packs are available for purchase by region, multi-region bundles, or nationwide coverage.
RangeSight helps you answer the most critical flight question: "How far can I fly and return safely under real conditions?"
- Go/No-Go Decisions: Color-coded weather safety indicators (green/yellow/red) tell you instantly if conditions are within your drone's limits.
- Return Feasibility: 7 concentric range rings show how far you can fly in every direction while maintaining various battery reserves (25% down to 0% and one-way max).
- Environmental Compensation: Wind-deformed range rings show the true asymmetric shape of your flight envelope: further downwind, shorter upwind.
- Payload Impact: See exactly how carrying camera gear or other payload reduces your range (PRO).
- Battery Health: Track charge cycle degradation and start calculations from your current charge level.
RangeSight is currently available for Android devices. You can download it from the Google Play Store. iOS support is planned for a future release. We recommend checking back or subscribing to our updates for announcements about new platform availability.
About RangeIQ
RangeIQ is the licensable platform that powers RangeSight's mission planning intelligence. It provides the same go/no-go assessment, feasibility analysis, and range planning capabilities through APIs and SDKs that enterprise organizations can integrate into their own systems. Think of RangeSight as the consumer-facing product and RangeIQ as the B2B platform that enables partners to embed our planning logic into their fleet management systems, drone software, or enterprise workflows.
RangeIQ is designed for organizations that need to standardize mission planning across their operations:
- Enterprise Drone Fleets: Companies with multiple pilots who need consistent planning processes and centralized oversight.
- Software Integrators: Developers building drone management platforms who want to add intelligent planning without building it from scratch.
- OEM Partners: Drone manufacturers looking to enhance their offerings with embedded mission planning capabilities.
RangeSight is a standalone mobile application for individual users and small teams. RangeIQ is a licensable platform (API/SDK) that provides the same mission planning intelligence but is designed for integration into enterprise systems. RangeSight is the product; RangeIQ is the platform that powers it and can power your systems too.
The RangeIQ API/SDK is currently in development. Visit our Request Access page to register your interest and be notified when it launches. Our team will follow up to discuss technical requirements, pricing, and onboarding. In the meantime, you can experience RangeIQ's capabilities firsthand through RangeSight. The same physics engine powers both products.
Support & General
Offline map packs are one-time purchases that give you permanent access to downloadable map data for specific regions:
- Purchase a map pack from within the RangeSight app or on our website.
- Download the map data while connected to Wi-Fi (recommended due to file sizes).
- Once downloaded, access full satellite imagery and terrain data for that region without any internet connection.
- Map packs include periodic updates as new imagery becomes available.
Available options will include Regional packs, Multi-Region bundles, and National coverage. Pricing will be announced soon.
We offer multiple support options depending on your needs:
- Email Support: info@thevalthor.com - Available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Time.
- In-App Help: Access contextual help and tutorials directly within RangeSight.
- Enterprise Support: RangeIQ Commercial and Enterprise customers receive dedicated support channels with priority response times.
